The Newave Detachable Surfboard:
A Surfing Trip Innovation
-
A UNIQUE BINDING SYSTEM FOR NEWAVE SURFERS
-
Newave’s “W” binding system is the key element revolutionizing surfboard transportation. It is the result of over 2 years of research and development and hundreds of hours of testing. This unique innovation offers three major advantages for passionate surfers who travel frequently:
FLEXIBILITY AND RIGIDITY PRESERVED
The “W” fastening system ensures perfect distribution of forces, maintaining the balance between flexibility and rigidity.
QUICK TOOL-FREE ASSEMBLY
Assemble your Newave board in just 20 seconds, without tools. Enjoy a simple, efficient solution for surfing anytime, anywhere.
OPTIMIZED WEIGHT
The longboard weighs 7 kg, the same as all boards used in competition, but with the practicality of a dismountable model to travel freely, at no extra cost.
Performance
Once in the water, the Newave behaves just like a traditional board. You'll rediscover the authentic sensations of surfing, with a fluid ride on every wave.
A RANGE OF VERSATILE BOARDS
-
Newave boards are not only removable, they’re also modular. With just 7 pieces, you can put together 9 different boards, so you’ll always have the ideal model, whatever the waves. Boards are similar in width, rail shape and thickness. This range is designed to make it easy for any surfer to change boards without losing their bearings.
The shortboard’s tail fish gives you nervousness and release in turns, perfect for playing in light conditions. If you choose the mini-malibu’s wider tail, you opt for more grip and stability, while the longboard’s tail gives you a more linear glide, perfect for big curves. With 7 pieces of board, you get the complete Newave range from the 5.10 to the 9’0 longboard.

CUTTING-EDGE MATERIALS FOR LASTING PERFORMANCE
PREMIUM MATERIALS
Newave’s detachable surfboards are built using carefully selected materials, chosen for their performance and durability:
•EPS foam blanks with a density of 36kg/m³
•High-quality fiberglass
•Premium Sicomin epoxy resin
•Reinforced nylon connecting parts
HIGH-PERFORMANCE SYSTEM
The Newave connecting system is made from PA12, a high-performance polyamide known for its outstanding mechanical resistance, even in the most demanding conditions. This material is similar to the one used in fishing nets.
Not only is it tough enough to absorb wave impact, but it’s also waterproof, UV-resistant, and highly resistant to abrasion. This means the connecting system maintains its properties over time, ensuring the Newave board is built to last — you can surf it for years without signs of wear.
A COMMITMENT TO MORE RESPONSIBLE SURFING
Mindful of environmental impact, we’ve optimized our manufacturing process by:
•Using molded foam blanks to reduce polystyrene waste
•Sourcing foam and connector parts close to the final production site
•Minimizing transport distances

TESTED AND APPROVED BOARDS
-
The Newave connecting system is the result of two years of intensive research and development. It is protected by two international patents filed with the INPI (French National Institute of Industrial Property). To ensure optimal performance, we conducted extensive testing:

ADVANCED SIMULATIONS

BENCH TESTING

FATIGUE TESTS

COUNTLESS SURF SESSIONS
After two years of R&D, Ewen and Hadrien tested countless prototypes to fine-tune every aspect of the Newave board: the junction system, modularity, manufacturing process, and board weight.
Armed with patience and attention to detail, Ewen and Hadrien created a unique final product that will appeal to surfers seeking freedom and adventure.
The Newave detachable surfboard is the outcome of a collaboration between many experts: shapers, plastic injection specialists, a mechanical design office, surfers, and engineers.
Its robustness has been demonstrated through lab testing and real-life surf sessions. In fact, during stress tests conducted at Cobra, our manufacturing partner, the board withstood over 300 kg of pressure — meeting the same durability standards as traditional surfboards.
Ewen and Hadrien also tested Newave boards in real conditions, from the waves of the Atlantic coast to those in Scotland, Sri Lanka, and Bali.
Tested by numerous surfers, Newave boards continue to attract curiosity and surprise with performance on par with traditional surfboards.
THEY'VE ALL TRIED OUR BOARDS
-

Our Newave dismountable boards have won over a diverse community of surfers at all levels. Since summer 2023, these boards have been put to the test on various waves, proving their performance and robustness.
