Let’s face it, most of us are still going surfing by car. Obviously, it’s often the easy option: you get to the spot quickly, change in the car park and leave your clothes dry. However, this mode of transport does have a few drawbacks, so let’s take a quick look at them.
space
The first problem with the car is the space available for the boards. For starters, boards only fit in big cars.
Secondly, there are rarely any problems for a shortboard session, you just lose a bit of visibility with the board in the middle of the car. On the other hand, when the swell isn’t quite there and you decide to take out the longboard, whatever the size of the car, it’s difficult to fit a 9 feet in.
In this case, there are two schools of thought: those who abandon their longboard and those who install roof bars, or even choose a break to get the boards in, despite everything.
pollution
The second problem is the pollution caused by car journeys. As a reminder, over 90% of the environmental impact of a surfboard is due to the surfer’s journeys. So it’s essential to reduce the emissions associated with surf travelling.
So when you consider that a board on the roof increases emissions by around 20%, you have to find other ways of transporting your board (we aren’t mentioning choosing a bigger, more polluting car).
Newave is the solution
That’s why Newave’s three-piece dismountable surfboard is the ideal solution to these problems.
Once stored in its carrying backpack, the board fits into any boot, including those of small cars. Last but not least, Newave’s removable surfboards allow you to choose other means of transport, the bicycle in particular, which is a very good alternative for most journeys.
If you still have any doubts, here are two videos that should convince you: the video of the board in a small Twingo and the video of a cycling session.
