FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a Newave modular surfboard?

A Newave board comes apart into several pieces, making it easy to transport and store. But it is also modular: the different pieces can be combined to create several shapes. With 7 pieces, for example, you can build up to 9 different configurations.

Are Newave boards strong?

Yes. Our boards were developed over more than 2 years of R&D and tested both in the laboratory and in real conditions. They have withstood load tests of over 300 kg and have been surfed in demanding conditions. Our boards come with a 2-year warranty.

Are Newave boards suitable for performance surfing?

Yes! Once assembled, a Newave is first and foremost a real surfboard. Our system was designed to preserve the stiffness, the flex and the feel of a conventional board, including for demanding surfing. We even let you try them: our boards come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Can you feel the joints underfoot?

No. The joints are built into the board's construction and designed to work with its natural flex. Once you are in the water, they do not interfere with the feel of the ride.

Can my board come apart in the water?

No, provided the board is correctly assembled. The pieces are held by a secure locking system that requires a deliberate manual action to release.

Can water or sand get into the joints?

The assembly system was designed to withstand water, sand and the demands of regular use in the ocean. Simple maintenance then keeps the system in good condition over time.

I already own a Newave board — can I combine it with another model?

Yes, that is the whole point of Newave modularity! Some pieces can be combined to create different shapes without buying a complete new board. Compatibility does depend on the model and its generation.

How do I assemble and take apart my board?

Assembly is quick and simple, with no tools required. Just slot the different parts together, then lock them with the Newave pins.

Do I need wax?

It depends on the model. On our hard boards, wax is used just as on a conventional board. Models with a non-slip EVA deck, such as the WRocket, do not need any.

Which fins are compatible with Newave boards?

Newave boards use the Futures system, so you can choose your fins according to your level, your surfing style and the conditions.

Which bag comes with my board?

Your board is supplied with a bag suited to carrying it once taken apart. The type of bag included depends on the model or pack chosen, and is stated on each product page.

How many boards can I carry in a Newave bag?

The backpack is designed to carry one disassembled Newave board. Our boardbags hold several pieces, and therefore several board configurations, in a single bag.

Can I fly with my Newave board?

Yes — and it is one of the main advantages of Newave! Once taken apart, your board becomes far more compact and easy to carry. Baggage conditions and any fees remain specific to each airline, however.

How do I look after my Newave board?

As with a conventional board, a few simple habits will extend its life.

Is my Newave board under warranty?

Yes. Newave boards come with a 2-year commercial warranty on the parts, in particular the assembly system and the connecting pieces, in addition to your statutory rights. It covers manufacturing defects under normal use.

What are the delivery times?

We ship your order within 48 working hours, subject to stock. Once dispatched, allow roughly 3 to 5 days for France and 5 to 8 days for the rest of Europe.

How do I choose the right board size?

Your height, your weight, your level and the type of waves you surf all come into it. The recommendations on each product page will help you find the model that suits you best.

Which board should I choose for my level?

Each Newave shape serves a different purpose. Some models favour stability and ease, while others offer more manoeuvrability and performance.

How long does it take to assemble a Newave board?

Newave boards go together and come apart in seconds, with no tools, thanks to our pins.

How do I track my order?

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email with your tracking number so you can follow its progress.
