Modular surfboards, the NEWAVE innovation for surf trips
A UNIQUE fastening system on Newave surfboards
Newave's "W"-shaped mounting system is the key element that revolutionizes surfboard transport. It is the result of over two years of research and development and hundreds of hours of testing. This unique innovation offers major advantages for passionate surfers who travel frequently:
Flexibility and rigidity retained
The "W" shaped fixing system ensures perfect force distribution, maintaining the balance between flexibility and rigidity.
Quick and tool-free assembly
Assemble your Newave board in just 20 seconds, without any tools. Enjoy a simple and effective solution to surf anytime, anywhere.
Optimized weight
The longboard weighs 7 kg, it is the same as all the boards used in competition, but with the practicality of a collapsible model for traveling freely, without additional costs.
Performance
Once in the water, the Newave board behaves like a traditional surfboard. You'll rediscover the authentic sensations of surfing, with a smooth ride on all waves.
A RANGE OF VERSATILE BOARDS
Newave surfboards aren't just take-apart, they're also modular. With just 7 pieces, you can create 9 different boards, ensuring you always have the perfect setup for any wave. The boards are similar in width, rail shape, and thickness. This range is designed so that every surfer can easily switch boards without losing their feel for the game.
The fish tail of the shortboard gives you responsiveness and a relaxed feel in turns, perfect for playing in small waves. If you choose the wider tail of the mini-malibu, you'll get more grip and stability, while the longboard's tail provides a more linear glide, perfect for wide turns. With 7 board pieces, you get the complete Newave range, from 5'10" to 9'0" longboards.
Advanced materials for lasting performance
High-quality materials
Newave takedown surfboards are made with materials carefully selected for their performance and durability:
● EPS foam blocks at 36kg/m3
● High-quality fiberglass
● High-quality Sicomin epoxy resin
● Reinforced nylon fixing piece
High-performance system
The Newave fastening system uses PA12, a high-performance polyamide, guaranteeing excellent mechanical resistance under the most demanding conditions. It is a material similar to that used for fishing nets.
This material is not only strong enough to withstand the impact of waves, but it is also waterproof, UV-resistant, and highly abrasion-resistant. This allows for a fastening system whose properties remain unchanged over time. The Newave board is therefore durable: you can enjoy it for many years without it deteriorating.
A commitment to more responsible surfing
Mindful of our environmental impact, we have optimized our manufacturing process:
● Molded foam block to reduce polystyrene waste
● Logistics optimization: production of foam and fixing parts close to the production site
● Reduction of transport distances
Tried and tested boards
The Newave fastening system is the result of two years of intensive research and development. The system is protected by two patents registered with the INPI (French National Institute of Industrial Property) with international scope. To guarantee optimal performance, we have implemented the following:
After two years of research and development, Ewen and Hadrien tested numerous prototypes to optimize the Newave board: the joining system, modularity, manufacturing process, and even the weight of the board.
Ewen and Hadrien armed themselves with patience and meticulous attention to detail to offer a unique finished product that will convince surfers in search of freedom.
The Newave takedown surfboard is the result of a collaboration between numerous experts: shapers, plastic injection molders, a mechanical design office, surfers, and engineers. The Newave board has demonstrated its robustness in bench tests and real-world conditions: it is as durable as a traditional surfboard.
Indeed, during tests conducted at Cobra, our manufacturer, we were able to validate the Newave boards through a stress test exceeding 300 kg, which corresponds to the resistance criteria of a classic surfboard. Hadrien and Ewen had the opportunity to test the Newave boards in real-world conditions; they traveled and adapted to the waves of the Atlantic coast, as well as those of Scotland, Sri Lanka, and Bali. Tested by numerous surfers, the Newave boards are attracting attention and impressing with their performance, comparable to classic surfboards.
They all tried our boards
Our Newave takedown surfboards have won over a diverse community of surfers of all skill levels. Since the summer of 2023, these boards have been put to the test on various waves, proving their performance and durability.
