A UNIQUE fastening system, patented technology

At the heart of every Newave board is our W-junction system, a technology developed to allow multiple parts to assemble while maintaining the rigidity and feel of a traditional board.

Its specific geometry distributes mechanical stresses throughout the junction area. Once the different parts are assembled, the pinning system locks the whole together simply and securely.

An innovation developed and patented by Newave, designed to make our boards detachable without compromising on surfing performance.

Newave boards offer unique versatility, allowing every surfer to easily adapt to different wave styles. Thanks to an optimized shape, the constant width of each model makes it easy to switch from one board to another without loss of performance. Ultra-Strong Boards

After two years of R&D and dozens of prototypes, one obsession: to create a modular board without compromise. Connection system, manufacturing, weight, resistance: every detail has been thought through, tested and retested.

The result? A board capable of withstanding a stress test of over 300 kg carried out at Cobra, a reference surf manufacturer, using the same resistance criteria as a classic board.

Tested in the waves of the Atlantic, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and Bali, Newave boards have faced all conditions and surfing styles.

Those who try them are often the first to be surprised: in the water, you completely forget that they are modular. Same feeling, same responsiveness, same freedom.

And because we prefer to let you judge for yourself, you have 30 days to test your Newave. If it doesn't convince you, you'll be reimbursed.

Newave modular design

Designed to combine performance and portability, our technology is based on a high-density EPS core vacuum-laminated with ultra-resistant epoxy resin and fiberglass reinforcement patches.

This process ensures the rigidity of a traditional composite while allowing for complete modularity. To guarantee perfect consistency during assembly, the width and thickness remain rigorously constant throughout the junction area. Once the board is secured by its locking pins, the injected nylon connectors preserve the original flex and rocker for a smooth and precise glide.

Our Story

Ewen and Hadrien, two students passionate about surfing and engineering, are taking on a challenge: to create a dismountable surfboard that is easy to transport, without sacrificing the feel in the water. Newave starts with an idea... and many prototypes to come.

The first prototype was created. The verdict: 12 kg, water ingress, and a board that broke on its very first session. Not exactly a success, but the first step in a long series of tests and improvements.

Heading to the French coast to put our prototypes to the test with real surfers. Test sessions, demonstrations, and initial field feedback: the boards aren't quite there yet, but each session brings us a little closer to the right formula.

Newave is setting up shop in Les Sables-d'Olonne. A new playground, close to the ocean, to continue developing, testing and evolving our boards.

After a year of technical development, failures, adjustments, and new prototypes, we are finally there: our first truly functional collapsible board is hitting the waves.

For the final tests, we headed to Scotland and its demanding conditions. An ideal place to push our boards to their limits and shoot Celtic Seas’on, the film that marks the end of two years of development.

Newave is moving from prototype to production. We are launching the manufacturing of our boards with Cobra, a leading manufacturer in epoxy board production. The innovation developed over two years is finally ready to scale up.

It’s official: the first Newave modular boards are launched. Our Kickstarter campaign marks the beginning of our commercial adventure and allows our first surfers to join the movement.

After almost three years of development, the first Newave boards are leaving our premises to join their owners. Our boards are passing from the hands of our team to those of the first Newave surfers.

A new chapter for Newave: the team is moving and opening its first shop in Les Sables-d'Olonne. A place to work, develop future innovations, and most importantly, meet the community.

After resin, Newave is tackling a new challenge: foam. We are launching our first inflatable softboard and adapting our technology to an entirely different construction.

Newave is the story of Ewen and Hadrien, two surfers accustomed to surf trips around the world. As they traveled, a reality became clear: transporting a surfboard by train or plane had become prohibitively expensive, stressful, and restrictive.

Renting on site isn't always a reliable option. Between shop opening hours and the lack of equipment suitable for the conditions, they decided to design the ideal solution. A high-performance board, with no compromise on the ride, capable of following them absolutely everywhere.
